Saturday's Opponents: Worsborough Bridge Athletic

For the second time in as many weeks, an FA cup competition has presented us with an opportunity for rancor.

There have been many frustrating and utterly baffling moments following Cheadle Town, but none more so than on a cold and wet Tuesday evening back in September 2008 when we travelled to Worsborough Bridge Athletic for an FA Vase tie, battered them with more shots-on-target than you can shake a stick at but still came away with a 2-5 defeat to our names.

Now it's their turn to come to us.

Worsborough Bridge Athletic are - as they were two seasons ago - in the Northern Counties East League Division One, thus pitting them at the same theoretical level as us in the football pyramid. We find them in mid-table with 7 points from 5 matches, all of which have been played away from home...for which there must be some legitimate reason. Being so used to playing away from home makes our opponents a prepared bunch and renders this contest another interesting test...although hopefully not as foot-stampingly annoying as the previous encounter!

The spoils for the victors is an away match at St Helens Town or Brodsworth Miners Welfare in two weeks' time.

Come on Cheadle!

Match report will be on here by midnight Saturday
