Saturday's Opponents: Irlam

Whether this will prove to be a welcome distraction from league action remains to be seen. Nonetheless, it's a cup quarter-final for us as we make the relatively short trip to Irlam for a First Division Trophy tie.

Despite a rather patchy recent run-of-form (3 wins, 1 draw, 2 losses) their current league position says everything about the task ahead of us this weekend. They are 4th in the table and only 6 points off the top two places.

Following last weekend's fixtures we are now the team that have scored the least number of goals in league competition (15) and - as last weekend's match showed - our lack of competitive action is having an effect.

The odds are stacked right against us...but write us off at your peril. Come on Cheadle!
