Saturday's Opponents: Oldham Boro

The fact that I'm not at all confident of watching any football this weekend is down to three things:

1. A cursory glance towards the sky
2. An equally cursory glance at the weather forecast
3. Oldham Boro's pitch is - if they don't mind me saying - a bit of a glue-pot at the best of times; inches of rain will not have done it any favours.

I'm being unfair. Oldham Boro have had quite enough problems recently - ones which no football club should suffer - without me picking at the state of their pitch.

Our recent record at the Whitebank Stadium is, without pulling any punches, complete toss. Cheadle Town always used to fair well there...until my support rocked up for the 2006-2007 season; I've seen nothing but thumpings since and a hatful of goals for Darren Scanlan bursting the back of our net.

Enough doom and gloom. I've forgotten to mention that this is a First Divison Trophy match (2nd round) and our final chance of giving ourselves a cup run to hang our proverbial hats on. On the pitch, Oldham Boro are having an indifferent season so we have every chance of getting a result.

If ever there was an ideal opportunity to break our Whitebank hoodoo....

Come on Cheadle!

Last five at The Whitebank:
2008-2009: lost 1-3
2007-2008: lost 0-7
2006-2007: lost 1-4
2005-2006: won 1-0
2004-2005: won 2-1
