Control

I finally got around to seeing the Ian Curtis movie; I have to say, I don't think it's arty just 'cos it's shot in black and white. The 70's were full of colour and I struggled with seeing 1970's Manchester under a 50's gloom.

Curtis unfortunately wasn't ready for stardom. He would have been a happy family man living in Macclesfield working for the job centre if it weren't for Joy Division. He is obviously a heart breaking case - his suicide seemed inevitable following his inability to deal with fame, his affair and his disabilities. Still he left us with one fine tune: "love with tear us apart"

New Order were to go on and do greater and better work, but for now here is Ian's 1st appearence on TV.

Go see the film, if only for the main actor's performence: superb...and dare I say it he sings the songs so much better too!
