Main Stand Nostagia

For those of you who have been to Park Road and have sampled the delights of our Main Stand, take a look at this photo taken at the stadium (around the mid-90s, I think)....

Do you notice anything peculiar about it?

Take another look....

Seats! Proper tip-up seats! Look at 'em! Aren't they wonderful! For those of you who haven't been to Park Road before, it's safe to say that those seats are sadly a thing of the past!!

If anybody from the club knows why the seats were taken out or wants to give us a bit of history about the Main Stand, then feel free to post a comment.....

Those were the days before the Cheadle chavs decided to either burn or rip out the seats!!

Nice to see the picture though of Phil Wardle and Tony McCombe, two great past players who played for Cheadle.

Don't get me started on chavs...words like "execution", "the birch", "snatch squads" and "kidnap" will start to issue forth from my fingertips.

Nice to see Cheadle in a black-and-white kit and all! ;-)

Pole, may i just say that only 1 tean ever wins stuff in them colours, Juventus. Every other team who plays in black and white is absolutley bobbins!!!!!

Nothing would be changing though with Cheadle! :D (freindly joke!)

I like to think of Woodley as Baby Barcelona :D.

Hmm, that photo looks familiar... Oh yes, I took it! 14th August 1999 it rained hard got soaked. Phil Wardle and Carlos Meakin scored for Cheadle to win 2-0. For us at LR it's good to see Jack Hetherington, one of our Directors, who died in 2001. We had the same problem with our stand. Had to take out the tip up seats coz of local yobs. Got the original photo still (bigger and shows more of the stand) and three others from the game if anyone wants copies. Email lr_16@hotmail.com and I'll send them over.
