Weekend Round-Up

First of all congratulations to Oldham Town for making it to the final of the Division Two Trophy. They beat Bootle 1-0 at home to clinch a 1-0 aggregate victory. They will find out who their opponents are by the end of tomorrow evening as the other semi-final is played out between Winsford United and New Mills (the latter leading 3-1 from the first leg); Polardin and I will be attending this match to have a nosey.

In the league, New Mills got into good practice for that match with a 4-0 whipping of Ashton Athletic; the Millers are now in fifth and are chasing hard for that third spot...which is still being held in Padiham's cast-iron grip after they picked up a 3-1 win at Blackpool Mechanics. Winsford United were the only ones from the top two to play; they drew 2-2 at Darwen and are now only a point behind leaders Runcorn Linnets with three games-in-hand.

At the foot of the table, Daisy Hill shoved Castleton Gabriels into second-from-bottom by beating them 3-2 at home. Norton United are now five points adrift. Elsewhere, Holker beat Eccleshall 2-1 at home and Chadderton kept their good form on the go with a 2-1 win at Leek CSOB.

Our very own Cheadle Town are in 12th place with 29 points from 28 games.
