Weekend Round-Up

Our very own Cheadle Town are still stuck in 15th place in Div 2 after this weekend's league fixtures. Their assailants Runcorn Linnets are still 2nd after Winsford United picked up a 3-1 away win at Blackpool Mechanics. Both Cheshire sides are starting to pull away at the top of the table: there is a nine-point gap between the 'Linnets and Eccleshall in 3rd place. The only threat to Runcorn's position comes in the form of Eccleshall's five games in hand; the Staffordshire side kept in touch with a 1-0 home win against New Mills.

Down at the bottom, all of the teams below Cheadle failed to win...thank God. Daisy Hill drew 1-1 at home to our next opoonents Chadderton, Holker Old Boys were beaten 2-3 at home to Ashton Town and Norton United were seconds from claiming their first league win of the season: Castleton Gabriels "did a Winsford" and equalised in the last minute to claim a 2-2 draw.
